Logs flooded with IGMP and UFW

Lately I was having a problem with Ubuntu’s firewall having loads of messages such as:

Nov 15 00:13:37 machine kernel: [96488.961785] [UFW BLOCK] IN=eth2 OUT= MAC=01:00:de:00:ad:00:be:00:ef:03:13:37:0h:a1 SRC=10.192.168.254 DST=224.0.0.1 LEN=28 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=1 ID=30636 PROTO=2

Found the solution on Frank Geerlings blog:

sudo ufw deny from 10.192.168.254 to 224.0.0.1

The command instructs the ubuntu firewall to deny the multicast. Simple, sweet and working 🙂
